CAMPAIGN LABS - SUSTAINABILITY VICTORIA

A series of Campaign Labs were developed in collaboration with The Regional Development Company, delivered to waste, sustainability and communications staff of Victorian Local Councils, Waste and Resource Recovery Groups and Alpine Resort staff.

These Labs were aligned with the Recycling Victoria, A New Economy policy which aims to reform Victoria’s recycling system and transform how the Victorian economy uses and reuses materials.

The aim of the Labs series was to increase the capability of staff with the tools and resources they needed to effectively plan, communicate and implement campaigns for the introduction of a new waste service such as FOGO (Food Organics Garden Organics) or the 4th Glass Bin.

EVENT WASTE MANAGEMENT TOOLKIT

Developed in 2020 for the community group Sustainable Upper Ovens, this tool kit guides event organisers, vendors and volunteers on the best practices to manage and avoid waste generated from public events.

Sustainable Upper Ovens identified that something was needed to assist Event Managers to understand what could be done to reduce waste.  They successfully applied for an Alpine Shire Council and Bendigo Bank Community Grant and engaged EA Sustainability to do the research and identify the practical steps that make up the Toolkit.

"In Upper Ovens communities of Bright, Myrtleford, Porepunkah, Wandiligong and Harrietville we have many events throughout the year that collectively generate an enormous amount of waste. The Toolkit is a practical guide that leads Event Managers through a process to assess waste impacts and take steps to reduce waste production and be more successful at diverting recyclables and organics from landfill’

Lily O'Neill, Secretary Sustainable Upper Ovens.
